Money is always difficult to talk about, especially with those who feel they do not have the capital to self-publish their own books. Dowell House publishing is a hybrid, independent publisher and there are costs up front to the author which is typically not true if you are picked up by a traditional publisher. With all the avenues available now to self-publishers, many authors are now seeking this route.  

Writing your book is free. Getting a qualified illustrator, professional editor, book designer/formatter, marketing help, and a publishing consultant (someone who knows what they are doing) is not. Unless you have the time and energy to pursue knowledge in all these areas, you may find yourself footing a pretty hefty bill to create a product that meets markets standards. Each market has a range of prices depending on maturity in the field and quality of work. 

The money paid to Dowell House Publishing goes directly to fund your illustrator, editor and everyone else. Due to paying upfront for these direct costs, the author will also retain at least 50% of the net revenue on products sold. We are here to assist you and allow you to make more of a profit off your hard work. Self-publishers have to foot the bill for everything and figure out who is the best creative team for them at the most reasonable price. We have done the work for you and strive to do so well below the industry standard for cost.
